Not because I don’t believe the information, but rather because in today’s world of everyone trying to fact check everything, it almost seems essential for anything written that is more than an opinion piece! That said, it basically reinforced other information I’ve read and heard but I appreciate the specifics and the fact that it addressed more than one or a few fruits as well as more than one category of fruit. This was also an easy to read and understand article. This is much appreciated because so many articles that are supposed to be informative are not always reader friendly inasmuch as being able to comprehend it without having to go down rabbit holes of definitions, meanings, and various correlations. By the same token, it is inspiring to know that for years I have been unknowingly consuming the optimum amount of nutrients by freezing organic blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, & bananas ultimately using them in my organic oatmeal, smoothies, and salad dressings.   7. Many of the wild blueberries that are sold in stores, especially Costco, are not labeled as organic. Would you consider these safe to eat since they’re not labeled as organic? Wild blueberries have a greater concentration of antioxidants than regular blueberries. The organic frozen blueberries are larger and probably are a hybrid variety.

      “Costco’s wild blueberries (often Kirkland brand) are generally not certified organic but are grown with significantly fewer pesticides than conventional blueberries, often using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and being thoroughly washed, resulting in low or undetectable residues, though some conventional farming practices like herbicide use might still occur. “

  13. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that many grocery stores, including Whole Foods, carry plenty of frozen fruit but much of it is NOT organic, likely due to not enough consumer demand.

  14. Brian: We grow blueberries in our garden, using ONLY Espoma Berry Fertilizer and water with mininal pruning when needed. Anyway, I will say that we adore our blueberries fresh from the bushes (all 50 quarts of them!) Yes, we get that many at least every other year, if not every year…which is why we beg friends to come help pick and take them home for free. What will absolutely get frozen in our over-stuffed freezer are used in cooking, baking, in smoothies, and in my “berried jello”, which is made with gelatin, water, a small amt. of stevia and a mixture of our berries. That is the one signature dish we bring that everyone at church potluck dinners looks for! I know this is not quite as healthy, but it is wonderful topped with a little bit of TRU WHIP (much healthier version of cool whip). I use the frozen berries exclusively for this dish, as they cause the plain gelatin (NOT jello) to get firmer a lot faster!
