  1. During my wondering in the forest, I think I have seen these mushrooms, can I collect them, and do I cook them or eat raw ? this is very interesting.

    • Yes, most people have seen them. You definitely will NOT be eating them raw even if you could. They are tough and leathery. Besides, you don’t get benefit from raw mushrooms, they need to be cooked to release the polysaccarides and other beneficial components.

      First be sure you have Trametes versicolor and not one of the other look alikes. Stereum ostrea is the most common. If the underside is not white and does not have tiny pores (3 to 7 per mm) you don’t have Turkey Tail.

      Second, pick them young, they should have a white rim about 3 to 4 mm wide. You can dry them at this point. I add them to water in a blender and blend finely. Then pop them into a pot with a thermostat (Kambrook deep fryer) set to 70C for 24hrs. I blend again and pour into icecubes. I use them one or two a day.

    • Unless you are an expert in mushrooms – I personally wouldn’t pick any wild mushroom to cook or put in my mouth.

  3. Once again you have excelled with such good information. Fights cancer,immunity booster,and I sure would love to get rid of sagging aging skin to look 50 years younger..-so I can look as young as I feel. So many benefits from mushrooms. Do you think it’s mostly because of the quercitin?
